Every Record I Own - Day 191: James Carr You Got My Mind Messed Up
I used to do this series of interviews with notable Seattle music biz folks where I’d ask about their music collections. Back in 2011, I interviewed my friend Bekah who works for Sub Pop, and she mentioned this old soul record by James Carr when I asked about her recent obsessions. I had never heard of him, but then it seemed his name kept popping up in conversations with music geeks, so I grabbed a copy of You Got My Mind Messed Up, which Mojo says is “undoubtedly one of the greatest soul albums of all time.”
And sure enough, it’s a perfect record. I’m listening to it now, on a Sunday morning with a cup of coffee, which is always the best time for soul music.
